Reflections of one graduate eight months after graduation:
“First, the program gave me an overall boost in self-confidence. Secondly, it was a great opportunity to have scheduled time to reflect, review, and learn over an extended period of time. I appreciated the program being extended over 9 or 10 months - time to mull over new information, hear it a few times in different ways, and incorporate it into my life, family, and work.
Thirdly, it affirmed many of the values and qualities I hold dear, but sometimes do not see in day to day office activities/dynamics. The program let me know not only is it OK to hold onto those values, but it is reasonable to expect to see them in a workplace.
Additionally, the StrengthsFinder presentation, book, and online assessment made a permanent impact on me. I have reread sections of the book repeatedly and thought about how my strengths (learner, connectedness, input, achieve, intellection) impact me, and how I see them active in my daily life. In my recent job search, I factored them into the equation. I weighed the opportunities in terms of the strengths. This approach is a new addition to my ‘tool kit.’
