Abington Educational Foundation
- Non-Profit Organizations
The Abington Educational Foundation (AEF) is a nonprofit organization that provides funding to enhance educational opportunities for the students of the Abington School District (ASD).
Since 1992, AEF's mission has been to enrich the lives of ASD students through learning grants that support digital literacy, math and science enrichment, arts and cultural programs, and new models for learning.
More than 200 school districts across Pennsylvania benefit form the support of education foundations, and AEF is committed to ensuring that Abington students also receive the educational opportunities that philanthropic investment and involvement can provide.
Because of the generosity of many individuals and businesses, AEF has had a direct impact on thousands of students by funding programs that increase student well-being and achievement.
In 2002, AEF established the Silver Pen Award which recognizes 6th grade students for the submission of winning essays. AEF also provided support toward the Stephen A. Schwarzman Stadium. In 2007, AEF raised $100,000 to fund digital whiteboards for elementary school classrooms. Recent contributions include $65,000 for Chromebook laptops, and $10,000 annual for innovative teacher grants.
AEF is led by a volunteer Board of community and business leaders in partnership with the ASD. With the support of the Abington community, AEF will continue to provide financial assistance to programs that promote parity across all district schools and the highest level of educational innovation.
